Propylene glycol,also known as 1,2-propanediol,is an organic compound that is miscible with water,ethanol and a variety of organic solvents.Normally,it is colorless and viscous liquid,almost tasteless,and slightly sweet.Propylene glycol can be used as the raw material of unsaturated polyester resin,and can be used as a wetting agent in cosmetics,toothpaste and soap in combination with glycerin or sorbitol.It is used in hair dyes as a moisture adjusting and hair homogenizing agent,as well as antifreeze,cellophane,plasticizer and pharmaceutical industry.
