1-Octadecyl alcohol or stearic alcohol is a kind of fatty alcohol, which can be obtained by hydrolysis of whale oil, hydrogenation of stearic acid under the catalysis of copper chromate, or reduction of ethyl stearate with saturated ethanol. Under the action of alkyl aluminum, heptadecene fraction can be obtained by controlling the polymerization of ethylene, and then octadecyl alcohol can be obtained by carbonylation.
